The Martisor, a jeweled object caught in a white and red string, offered as a gift to loved ones in the month of March, has various meanings, from herald of spring to symbol of rebirth.

Martisorul is a tradition in Romania, the Republic of Moldova and the neighboring territories inhabited by Romanians or Aromanians. Similar customs are found in Bulgaria, Albania, Macedonia.

Since 2017, Martisorul has been included in UNESCO's intangible heritage.
